What Is an .OPDOWNLOAD File?
Opera left an .opdownload file in your Downloads folder and the real file never appeared. It is an unfinished download. Here is how to finish it or clear a stuck one.
What an .opdownload file is
An .opdownload file is a partial, in-progress download created by the Opera browser (the same idea as Chrome's .crdownload). While bytes are still arriving, Opera writes them to a placeholder named after the real file with .opdownload added — for example setup.exe.opdownload. When the download finishes, Opera renames it to setup.exe and the suffix disappears.
Why it is stuck
If the .opdownload never becomes the real file, the transfer stalled — the connection dropped, Opera was closed, or the download was paused and lost. The partial data is unusable until the rest arrives.
How to finish it
Open Opera's downloads (Ctrl+J) and click resume. If the entry is gone, just download the file again from the source page.
Is it safe to delete?
Yes, once you have given up on it. Move the .opdownload to the Recycle Bin; you only lose the incomplete data, and the next download starts fresh.
